Blinds
Every hand, the two players to the left of the dealer make compulsory bets called blinds.
One player is said to be the small blind, the other the big blind.

- The small blind sits to the left of the dealer
- The big blind sits to the left of the small blind
The same two players don’t post the blinds each hand. The dealer button moves one seat clockwise each hand, so the next hand Tom would be in the small blind and Dan would be in the big blind.
What are blinds for?
The blinds help to get the pot started. Thanks to the blinds, whatever happens during the hand, there’s always something to play for. Blinds force the action a little bit, and make the game more interesting.
Having blinds introduces a regular cost to take part in the game. If you keep folding every hand, your chips stack will slowly erode. Blinds encourage players to play, otherwise everybody would just wait until they had pocket Aces. Not a fun game!
How much are the blinds? It depends what table you choose. On PartyPoker.com, tables are usually listed by the small and big blind (e.g. $1/$2, $2/$4).
